THE LIBRARY

The Library is OPEN
The Library is an entity with a seemingly endless reach where knowledge and collection are concerned. It's a great tool to get what you want in theory, when it feels like being useful. Oftentimes it doesn't, or will demand something else in return. If too many requests come in, the Library will close for awhile, so we can play catch up.

Additionally, mods respond to the Library requests TWICE A MONTH. Keeping that in mind, Library requests should not be time sensitive, or important for plot motion.

UPDATE 11/16: for ease's sake we've enforced these rules to keep the Library more streamlined:

1. No weapons
2. No pets
3. No vehicles
4. There is no need to request books (unless they're specialty titles from a character's world, or you want a reaction from the Library). Whatever title or topic they're looking for, the Library seems to draw them to the right shelf.

To start, have your character fill out this request card at the Library's pneumatic tube:

YOUR REQUEST: Books. I've already read through much of everything on site. Histories, poetry, philosophical novels, political reviews, philosophical rhetoric, art history, anything. Gives a man something to do. What would the house librarian recommend?

[ In the returning tube are not iron chains, but a pair of surprisingly strong leather cuffs, teal in color, with gilt inlaid words on either side. The right reads, "I AM A GOOD PUPPY" and the left reads, "I AM A BAD DOG." There is also included a luxury brand topical ointment for treating raw, sore skin, along with a shirt and shorts uniform for Nikolai to wear — as if the Library wanted to remind him to have a little fun with his pressing issue. ]

[ The returning message comes with a weighted box attachment, with a number of things inside —

1. a fat stack of People magazines all dated in 2006, and the very beginning of 2007
2. the first two installments of the Twilight series, Twilight and New Moon, which were already a part of the Library's collection, but also has a pre-release of the third installment, Eclipse
3. a self help book entitled On Desire: Why We Want What We Want — "Brimming with wisdom and practical advice, On Desire offers a thoughtful approach to controlling unwanted passions and attaining a more meaningful life."
4. a novel series from the 80s called Escaping the Werewolves, which is a bodice ripper about a woman named Louise van der Luten who has an ongoing battle between her good, Christian morals and her unyielding pheromones which attract a seemingly endless amount of alpha werewolf suitors. There are 18 installments of this series included, every book well read and beaten in, and the final book confirms there are another 17 the Library has yet to track down, but will work at obtaining for Louis
5. a French book titled Le Tueur que Vous Connaissez, which is a crime mystery about a serial killer in the early 18th century France who uses rats to torture his victims
6. also a French dictionary, if his is a little rusty
7. a puzzle (small nsfw) the Library thought he'd enjoy
8. and finally, a speculative fiction book about how, if Bigfoot were real, he and his kind might've hidden from the American public eye for most of his existence. It starts off semi-sensible, but dissolves into a call to action about doubting your government, and calling your representatives to demand knowledge about Area 51. It is titled The Bigger the Foot, the Harder They Fall.

All of this is sent with a cursive note that Louis is free to ask for more books at anytime, and the Library will be stocking them up for him. ]

[ Several excruciatingly boring textbooks come back with a thorough dissection of English political history, from the 50s to the early 00s. A much thinner stack of notes comes from the America on the other side of the pond, which we really don't bother with learning. Upon fingering through the textbooks, Hawk will find one of them completely hollowed out, and filled up with: Jessica Simpson's edible body lotion, a rolled up Playgirl magazine, some playing cards, an empty flask, and an vintage locket with a missing picture inside.

As for his second request, a separate tube comes down with a thin manila folder full of scrap paper. On it, Hawk can read:

1. Matt brandished a knife at people because he got possessive of someone in the club.
2. Jennifer faints at anything sexual.
3. Tim doesn't really care about fixing up the chapel for god it's purely a flagellation fetish thing.
