There are large-scale paintings of past Balfours on the walls around the manor, but only of the stereotypically attractive family members. Anyone repulsive or even mildly undesirable would be missing. You can, however, find a hardcover tome entitled History and Genealogies of the Families of Balfour, Baskerville, Darcy, Errington, Maupin, Oldham, Kavanaugh, and Lush.

If they look closely in the book, tucked tightly beneath the cloth-bound cover are several torn journal pages written in tidy ink, the paper brittle and yellowed. Within the incomplete entries details the gruesome murder and illegible location of a Lord Joules, buried somewhere on the grounds of the Balfour estate and now obviously fertilizer for the magnificent gardens that the residents enjoy today. The handwriting of the journal entries match the penmanship in the corner of the title page, a single name: Denby Balfour. Further reading of the genealogy will reveal that Denby was the loving brother of Joules Balfour.

A perfectly normal family, really.
