You no longer feel comfortable in your skin. Once a month, you become paranoidly convinced your body is undergoing a metamorphosis. You peel and pick at your skin until it sheds, revealing a layer of agitated pink skin beneath. Where others see flesh scraped raw, you are convinced you see hard, bumpy scales. You are unable to resist the compulsion to eat your shed skin, which seems to soothe your anxiety, if only for a couple hours.
