THE LIBRARY

The Library is OPEN
The Library is an entity with a seemingly endless reach where knowledge and collection are concerned. It's a great tool to get what you want in theory, when it feels like being useful. Oftentimes it doesn't, or will demand something else in return. If too many requests come in, the Library will close for awhile, so we can play catch up.

Additionally, mods respond to the Library requests TWICE A MONTH. Keeping that in mind, Library requests should not be time sensitive, or important for plot motion.

UPDATE 11/16: for ease's sake we've enforced these rules to keep the Library more streamlined:

1. No weapons
2. No pets
3. No vehicles
4. There is no need to request books (unless they're specialty titles from a character's world, or you want a reaction from the Library). Whatever title or topic they're looking for, the Library seems to draw them to the right shelf.

To start, have your character fill out this request card at the Library's pneumatic tube:

[ The pneumatic tube hums, releasing a weathered first edition of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights. As Giles opens the book, it's not marked with anything but a faint line under Heathcliff's final reflection:

"I know that ghosts have wandered on earth. Be with me always – take any form – drive me mad! Only do not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you! Oh, God! It is unutterable! I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my soul!“

Alongside it, a wooden bookmark etched with a single word: WELCOME. :) ]

[ Curious, Giles carefully takes the book and makes note of the passage.

A couple of days and some private consultation with his conscience later, he returns it, with a request card tucked into the same page and a simple note: ]

[ The pneumatic tube releases a scrap of parchment, aged and fragile. It smells faintly of ink and dust, older than it should be. Carefully unfolding it, Giles will find a typewriter-ribboned stanza in faded black ink:

It isn’t lost,
only left behind.
Shelved in silence.
Filed under forgetting.

No signature, no name. On the back, a faint imprint of a library stamp remains, mostly rubbed away. What’s left reads:

RETURNED / ____ / NEVER DUE

The blank space is torn jaggedly, as if something was forcibly removed. ]
