AUGUST 2024.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: though astarion isn't happy about having been kidnapped, he's been willing enough to take his time getting the lay of the land, in no small part because everyone except the balfours seems to be in exactly the same boat. he's made some tentative connections, and even managed to get a couple of people to agree to drawing his portrait. on the less positive side of things, he's a little unnerved by elodie given the fact that she knows a version of him and he has no memories of her (in fact, their stories differ significantly), as well as the presence of the other vampires.
SEPTEMBER 2024.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: astarion is, gods forbid, actually making friends, with a few relationships sped along thanks to 1) handfasting forcing him to be honest (though having more control over his social life has meant he hasn't really had to lie to anyone so much as just avoid giving away too much of his back story) and 2) the social lubricant called "having a pet." that said, the event left him a bit rattled, as well as more suspicious of their hosts.
OCTOBER 2024.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: the house's goings-on are a constant source of surprise (and sometimes pain) for astarion โ werewolf was a somewhat clarifying experience, ultimately strengthening the bonds he already has, but it's also left him with a few open wounds. twice now he's been forced to confess something he'd rather keep close to his chest (first to alicent last month, second to hawk during the game), though both interactions have led to surprising friendships. the game has also left him feeling weak, something he doesn't enjoy, as well as even more aware of the way the vampires, the rest of whom largely present a front of solidarity he doesn't know what to make of, are often being singled out.
NOVEMBER 2024.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: november was a month of ups and downs; astarion's gladness at gale's arrival has been balanced out by his displeasure over orin and tilanus' arrivals as well. he's been reminded of how precarious things are in the house, and forced to think over who he trusts and why. overall, he's taken an emotional step backward, but he took a step forward, too: he let somebody into his head willingly for the first time, asking koby to use his newly awakened haki to make sure the tadpole in his head is still behaving. luckily, it is. time to see what the end of the year has in store.
DECEMBER 2024.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: december has been a relatively quiet month, if also an emotionally rich one โ astarion mostly kept his head down with the exception of participating in christmas gift exchanges and, notably, kissing gale under the mistletoe (his first kiss since arriving). it's something of a turning point, building upon all the other little physical intimacies he's experienced โ with lauralae, with matt, with lestat โ as he figures out exactly what it is that he wants and how to both ask for it and accept it, as well as how to resist falling back into old patterns.
JANUARY 2025.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: tremendously bad month. despite kicking the new year off on a positive note โ kissing gale as the clock struck midnight, and a couple of times before that โ things quickly went south thanks to resculpt, which turned astarion into an ascended version of himself: stronger, prettier, andโ worse?
the radius of damage was luckily contained to matt (Weird Vibes on their weekly walk), armand (Weird Vibes and potentially a little sippy due to irrational jealousy), and gale (sorry for everything), but was still sufficient to send astarion into a spiral upon entering rehab. while sweating out the effects of the ointment, he bonded further with caroline and harry, as well as managing to set things right again with gale.
however, he's now uncertain as to exactly what he wants his future to hold, having experienced the thing he thought he wanted and finding it to be not quite what he'd hoped for.
FEBRUARY 2025.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: the sudden magic-blackout arguably cemented something that's been slowly shifting ever since astarion had a mindflayer tadpole planted in his brain, i.e. his slow rehabilitation when it comes to actually caring about other people and putting their needs before his. becoming human again ought to have thrown him for a loop, but he managed to keep it from rattling him too badly (or at least managed to suppress the feelings the change stirred up), instead keeping his shit together to care for, among others, gale, armand, and halsin as they coped with their respective changes and the chaos of the month.
on a more personal note, he and gale are officially sweethearts (!), and he's a little more comfortable with physical intimacy than he used to be.
MARCH 2025.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: the loss of matt hit astarion pretty hard, but also led, both directly and indirectly, to his further solidifying his other relationships, as he reaffirmed his bond with lauralae, and arranged a day of activities culminating in a confession of his love to gale (!!!). he also had to contend with both armand and spike getting their hooks in gale, but all in all, march was a-okay, with the plus-minus of having to share their suite with shadowheart (half-elf version) and the rare date night out thanks to the sol & scroll mingle. let nobody say he can't be fun and social.
APRIL 2025.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: the headline: bit gale. ๐ฅฐ yes, his blood tastes like someone scraped the coating off of a bag of sour skittles, but blood is blood, and more importantly, gale is gale. they also tried out a little student/teacher roleplay and, while it was fun, wasn't ultimately for them โ still, it's another step in the direction of "maybe next month they'll actually get a little frisky"!in other news, lauralae acquired a polaroid of him from the library, so he's in his feelings about that; armand extended an unsettling olive branch; and lestat finally clued him into a little of what's going on with the vamps from his neck of the woods.
MAY 2025.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: all in all: a pretty nice time. astarion elected to skip the spikelina wedding but fussed over gale in its aftermath, leading to a tender discussion about marriage โ something astarion had, consciously or subconsciously, not really let himself think about until this point.
he also took the initiative (ha) to restart the little movie club had and matt had begun, inviting a couple of new folks to join a viewing of when harry met sally. (five stars.)
๐ shadowhen cam: was disrespected on the network and subsequently defended by her two dads. received tributes from giles and roza.
JUNE 2025.
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
SUMMARY: ๐ฎ au month! saltburntstarion was a high-end escort, "gifted" to the balfours by one cazador szarr. he's ending the month having confessed his feelings to and resolved to leave with gale after a real up and down of crossed wires. his relationships with shadowheart and louis remain steady, while his rapport with armand is set to be a little more complicated in the wake of an intimate au history.
